Custo Barcelona signs a license agreement with Velmar

Velmar S.p.A. have signed, on June, a licensing agreement with Custo Barcelona, ownership of brothers Custo and David Dalmau. The collaboration consists in production and worldwide distribution of ready to wear women’s and men’s, swimwear, underwear, accessories, leather goods, and shoes collections.

The brothers Custo and David Dalmau retain ownership of the brand and continue to take care of the creativity of the collections, supported by a team of young designers. "We are very satisfied with this collaboration with one of the biggest players in the world, which will allow Custo Barcelona to grow globally", is their comment.

We expect next September, on the occasion of the New York fashion week, to see the first collection of this collaboration, which starts with a capsule dedicated to spring-summer 2020.

Among the assets of the expansion strategy there is also the strengthening of the e-commerce channel, alongside the multi-brand and single-brand network. The United States, Europe and Asia, with a focus on China, are the markets on which we bet.

Founded in 1997, Custo Barcelona had long been looking for an investor to re-launch the brand. In recent years the group has greatly reduced its distribution network and closed some of its flagship stores. Until today the production and distribution of the collections was managed in-house.

«The creativity of the Dalmau brothers anticipated many trends, always maintaining its original and authentic trait. The union of these characteristics with Velmar's ability to interpret and translate the strong identity of the fashion house, together with the experience in production and distribution, creates excellent foundations for a global development project ", is the comment by Luca Gori , general manager of the licensee company.

Founded in 1983, Velmar was acquired by Aeffe Group in 2001. It specializes in license management, both in prêt-à-porter and swimwear and underwear, and today produces Moschino underwear and swimwear and the Blugirl Folies line.
